Our Five Values

Friendship

We are united by FRIENDSHIP. It is the basis of our brotherhood. Because of it, we accomplish far more than we do as individuals. Friendship is the sweetest influence.

Knowledge

We promote the pursuit of KNOWLEDGE. It is the key to a fuller, richer life. We gain it through education, the harmonious development of the powers of the individual.

Morality

We believe in MORALITY. As gentlemen of quality, we must do what is right as individuals and as a group. Moral behavior is the basis of society’s existence.

Service

We encourage SERVICE. We have the ability, the opportunity, and the duty to serve our fellow human beings. Our reward is the satisfaction that comes from serving.

Excellence

We strive for EXCELLENCE. It is attained only when we fulfill our total potential. Mankind benefits when each of us becomes all that we can be.

Scholarship: A Fiji's Top Priority

What can Fiji offer you academically?

Membership in Phi Gamma Delta offers immense academic resources and values that we carry throughout our college years and beyond. FIJI members are not only focused on reaching their full academic potential, but are also committed to making sure their brothers do the same. Our members possess a bank of values with a variety of academic interests, skillsets, and helpful tips that many students don’t have access to. Brothers are always available to provide assistance with homework, studying, and course selection. FIJIs not only stress academic excellence throughout the chapter, but also the importance of learning how to manage time more effectively.

Last term’s GPA was 3.3

All members of FIJI are required to have a minimum 3.00 GPA. This is the most basic academic requirement for a FIJI, but every member understands that we strive for excellence in all aspects of life. As a chapter, we are constantly working to achieve the highest GPA within the Greek community. Every member has an obligation to contribute to our GPA by not only completing their own work, but helping others do the same.

Brotherhood

The Phi Gam experience is an exercise in the brotherhood of mankind - sharing and caring for each other, setting and achieving goals, accepting personal and group responsibility, and challenging each member to achieve his full potential and serve others with all that is in him. The investments you make of time and talent will determine the rewards you gain from your membership.

Intramurals

At FIJI, we work extremely hard to provide valuable bonding experiences for all members, whether it’s competing in intramural sports, playing paintball, or a weekend ski trip. These are always amazing opportunities to do fun activities and become closer with your brothers.

We love to stay active!

Philanthropy

Philanthropy has been a major focus for our chapter ever since our re-chartering in 2014. Since then, we have raised tens of thousands of dollars for multiple different charities and organizations including, Blankets for Cancer and FOOD for Lane County. As brothers of Fiji and students at the University of Oregon, we sometimes have to remember how fortunate we all are to be able to get a high-level education, and an opportunity to positively impact our world. This March we are running “FIJI’s Fight Against Cancer",” an online fundraiser for Ricardo Garibay, a 13-year-old boy with Lymphoma from Forest Grove, OR. He had a recent recurrence and has been going through chemotherapy and a potential stem cell transplant. We are excited to make a huge impact on him and his mother’s life and look forward to raising more money in the future.

Game days are another great way for FIJI’s to bond, not only with each other but with other fraternity and sorority members as well. We believe that game day is a great way for all students on campus to come together and bond over school spirit and athletics.

“Dream audaciously. Have the courage to fail forward. Act with urgency”

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence.

Talent will not;

Nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.

Genius will not;

Unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.

Education will not;

The world is full of educated derelicts.

Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.

The slogan Press On! has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”

Calvin Coolidge, FIJI alumni, 30th President of the United States
